Press Release: Peter J. Coleman & Guy Outen join DIRECT Infrastructure.
Media Release - Peter J. Coleman and Guy Outen join DIRECT Infrastructure’s Board of Directors
DIRECT Infrastructure (“DIRECT”), an Australian based specialist offshore wind developer, today announced the appointment of Mr Peter J. Coleman as independent Non-Executive Chair and Mr Guy Outen as independent Non-Executive Director. The two global energy industry veterans will bring decades of experience to DIRECT as it seeks to develop three multi-gigawatt (GW) floating offshore wind projects in Australia.
Brendan Warn and Jacob Jonker, Co-Founders and Managing Directors of DIRECT are pleased to welcome Peter and Guy to the board.
“Peter and Guy bring an unparalleled depth of experience in investment, development and operation of large-scale offshore energy assets to DIRECT. They are actively driving the energy transition with their leadership in green technologies, hydrogen and offshore wind sectors,” said Jacob Jonker. “They recognise that the delivery of integrated, large-scale offshore wind generation and energy storage projects by the end of this decade will create jobs, diversify the energy mix and play an important role in Australia’s energy transition. Peter’s and Guy’s experience and board leadership will position DIRECT as one of the leaders in Australia’s emerging offshore wind sector.”
DIRECT is in the planning stages to develop three large-scale floating offshore wind projects, with 6 to 9 GW combined capacity. The projects will be designed to provide reliable, scalable, cost-effective and sustainable electrification solutions to industrial-scale energy users in Australia.
Peter Coleman commented “I’m delighted to join DIRECT and lead the board of an Australian business that will be at the forefront of Australia’s offshore wind energy industry. Offshore wind energy generation has the potential to achieve the scale required to decarbonise the energy system and will be a necessary, cost competitive and complementary energy source. I expect that offshore wind will form an important component of Australia’s generation mix and competitively deliver firmed renewable energy to large industrial energy users – assisting them to decarbonise their operations”.
